Sponge or paintbrush
Paper or Canvas
Construction Paper or Cardstock
Black Magic Marker

1.  Using the washable paint, and sponge or paintbrush - help child to paint palm and several fingers (but not all).  Try painting half a finger, whole fingers or just one.  Experiment and see which makes the cutest monster.

2.  Press hand onto paper or canvas.  Be sure not to wiggle hand.  Be sure to press whole palm down.

3.  While paint is drying.  Use construction paper to cut out circles for eyes.  We used white, but you can use other colors - after all they are monsters!  We also cut out a tongue and some teeth.  You could try antennae, warts, moustaches or mouths!

4.  Use marker to draw pupil on eye, and detail to monster!  Glue on eyes.  Alternatively use googly eyes - or a combination of both!

5.  Check out your cute creation!

Paper dolls

momstown toronto-bloorwest had a great 'My Body' themed playgroup this month, and got creative with paper dolls to create some amazing works of art!

The kids started with plain white paper 'bodies', and went to work making them their own!

With all kinds of decorating tools - including construction paper, markers, foam stickers, cupcake paper, and some scissors and glue, they made some great little people!

Paper plate faces

momstown just wrapped up the My Body theme this month in our chapters - and there were some great craft ideas created! This paper plate face craft was enjoyed by kids of all ages.

What you need: paper plate, glue, construction paper, ribbon or odds & ends, and markers.

Use the paper plate (face side down) as your face. Talk about what colour the kid's eyes are, what colour hair and use materials that "look" like your child. Glue on circles for eyes (this is great shape recognition practice for children).

Cut 'hair' from construction paper and glue on.

Add a mouth, nose, eyebrows, and you've got not only a fun face craft, but a mask to play with!
