The Palm Tree seems like the symbol of the tropics doesn’t it? Let’s make one!
- Construction paper – blue (full page), browns (trunk & coconuts) and green (leaves)
- Green crepe or tissue paper – cut into small squares (perfect for squishing)
- Scissors and white glue
To make this craft a little easier, we traced a palm tree onto the blue paper first to provide some direction for the child crafter.
Cut the brown construction paper into small squares and glue along the tree trunk.
Cut circles for coconuts and glue on. (brown Foam would be a fun alternative and provide a different texture).
Cut long strips of green paper for the leaves (or even trace the leafy part of your design to provide a symmetrical and even tree). Glue onto the top of the trunk.
Next your tree needs some grass. We scrunched up green tissue paper to add more variety to the artwork and glued down.
We used these are the invites to a Tropical Luau Birthday Party and glued the printed invite to the back of this artwork.
Enjoy your palm tree! If your child is interested in creating another Palm tree, momstown made a 3D palm tree from a toilet paper roll here.
