Loot Bags. You may love or hate them but they are a birthday party staple so you may as well make them fun.
I enjoy giving them out and strive to give things the kids can actually use instead of random junk. I’m a big believer in books and hit up warehouse book sales year round to score books within my loot bag budget.
For the Tropical Hawaiian swim birthday party my daughter had, we found a sweet deal on the books and had some budget left to play with. We created personalised swim tote bags for all our guests.
Each swim tote bag was only one dollar at the dollar store. Parts of it were clear plastic and seemed to call out for some decoration. So we got creative!
All you need:
- Tote bag (plastic is best but fabric would work too.)
- Lots of permanent markers in a variety of colours (We love Sharpie!)
- Print outs or a drawn design (to trace)
I found Luau themed images online, I enlarged and printed them out. Then slipped them inbetween the bag sides to trace and colour in. If your child is very young, try tracing it first and giving it to them to just colour it in.
My daughter had a blast creating these for her friends and her pals loved the personalized factor.
