Everyone loves to play pretend – especially at Halloween! Our nursery school committee set up this awesome display for a witch’s brew and I just had to come home and make one too!. It would work perfectly with your toy kitchen toys at home.
The idea is to pretend to cook some come concoction and shake, shake, shake some creepy spices in.
Witches Brew “Spices”
- clear plastic bottles with lids (old pill bottles would be great or dollar store spice bottles)
- “wicked” ingredients (plastic worms, spiders, eye balls…)
- sharpie marker to label
- glue (optional)
- “Cauldron” – any bowl but the dollar store does sell black witch’s caldrons!
Fill the bottles with the ingredients (worms in one bottle spiders in another etc) and glue the lid down. Draw some “Spice” holes on the lid so they can shake a ‘dash’ of spider into their stew.
Even more fun if you have a witch’s cape & hat to wear when playing!
Another idea is to create a sensory bin with spiders, eyes, plastic worms etc and "mix" together in a bin.
Try saying this rhyme with your little witches while playing in the Halloween kitchen!
In My Witches Brew
Dead leaves, seaweed, rotten eggs too.
Stir them in my witches brew.
I've got magic alakazoo.
Oooh, my witch's brew
Ooh what's it going to do to you?
