If your child loves the story of Rudolph as much as my momstown kids do, they will love these great books about our favourite reindeer!

Olive, the Other Reindeer  by Vivian Walsh and J.Otto Senibold

olive the other reindeerA funny story about a dog named Olive. She hears the Rudolph song, and things that she hears ‘Olive, the other reindeer’ (instead of ‘all of the other reindeer’). She suddenly realizes that she must be a reindeer, not a dog, so she reports to the North Pole for Christmas Eve duty... and joins the reindeer on their adventures. It turns out that a dog can be very useful on the Christmas Eve deliveries. Great story to give some variety to the tried and true Christmas tales.

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer  by Alan Benjamin

rudolphKids and parents who are fans of the Rudolph movie will enjoy this book, which is a reproduction of the story with the same characters – Rudolph, Hermey the Elf, the Abominable, Yukon Cornelius and of course Santa.

The Little Reindeer by Caroline Repchuk

the little reindeerA sweet story about a little reindeer who can’t wait to discover his father’s ‘secret’ job... and meets other woodland animal families along the way. At the end of course the secret is revealed and Little Reindeer gets to pull the sleigh too, when he is all grown up.

This Little Reindeer  by Paige Billin-Frye

this little reindeerShort but sweet board book, a reindeer take on ‘this little piggy’... the book lets children wiggle one ‘reindeer’ (there are 5 reindeer that form a foot shape) on each page. It’s a quick read but you could read it many times, and let each child play with the reindeer ‘toes’.

Where’s Prancer?  by Syd Hoff

where's prancerSanta gets home from delivering toys and realizes that Prancer is missing! The reindeer retrace their steps to find him, and Prancer is located in Philadelphia... he wanted to see what Christmas Day looked like! Cute story, kids will enjoy ‘looking’ for Prancer throughout the book.
