Can you spot the little person in this foam mosaic? It's a momstown kid hiding there - he even has a nametag!
This is one of my favourite craft activities - the type where you give kids a few simple craft supplies and just see what happens!
In this case, we used:

- Foam sheets with peel and stick backs (you can buy in a multicoloured pack)
- Construction paper
- Scissors

The 4 year old combined cutting with tearing and just put a whole bunch of shapes on the page - but it ended up looking pretty neat! He didn't realize the cutting practice and fine motor skills he was using!

My seven year old got really detailed and down to the fine points - making a person out of shapes and even using scissors to add texture to the body!
Sometimes craft time should just be loose and unscripted (actually I prefer it that way most of the time)!
Some kids enjoy having a final 'product' to work towards, but they learn a lot more from the process, and their creativity seems to really comes through when there are no instructions to follow.
