Art is all about free expression and free painting is an activity that we do monthly at momstown in the summer and we call it “Picassos in the Park” , Picasso's is our most popular playgroup event as it's suitable and fun for ALL age groups - even babies!
Sometimes it is fun to free paint with unusual found objects. For this project we went on a nature walk and found a bunch of pinecones, fallen pine branches and dandelions which we brought home as “brushes” & “stamps”.
All you need for this activity is large paper, tempra paint, a large dish big enough for the paint to be squirted out to roll the pinecone/flower/pine in and maybe a smock.

Then have fun!!
Make patterns with your object on paper, write with it, roll it, smear it… let the kids do what they want and enjoy the whole sensory experience.

Mon, 06/06/2011 - 20:25 I love how you say that art is all about free expression. And I love the idea of painting with flowers - I'm going to have to try this with the kids at preschool.
