File Folder games are such a great way to pop open an activity, work and learn from it and then pop it closed. Many momstown chapters host an educational make & take night to create these types of learning resources. This one is based around the change of seasons and was a simple creation. The change of seasons brings a new set of routines for our kids and practising with these “dolls” will help remind them what clothing goes in what season.
Supplies: file folder, variety of foam, markers, glue, scissors
Draw 2 basic body shapes and glue one to each side to your file folder. Draw a winter scene and a summer scene on corresponding pages (you can see from my “artwork” that it’s meant to be simple! I am no Picasso!).
Next, be creative and cut shapes from your foam for clothing: coats, boots, hats for winter; bathing suits, sun hats and beach bags for summer. You may need a little baggie to store all the clothing. For younger children, you should keep these pieces large enough not to swallow/choke (beware of tiny shoes etc).
Your child will enjoy dressing and undressing their dolls and probably have a chuckle about mixing up the seasons and you will find a winter doll with a bathing suit on!
