We were having a play date recently, and I brought out the old trusty craft of pipe cleaners and beads... to see what the kids would come up with!

This is a great way for kids to practice fine motor control, as well as patterning, symmetry and sequencing skills.  All you need are pipe cleaners and craft beads – we used pony beads but any with the right size hole will work!

I guess my younger son is wishing for spring... I helped him make a butterfly!

My oldest kept to a winter theme and made a snowman! He was very certain about making each snow 'ball' a different colour!

It’s great to see their creativity, and also their acceptance of crafts not being ‘perfect’ or exactly the way they’d pictured... their imaginations take over! At momstown, we try to design and do crafts that are as much about the process as the finished product.
